Dr. Morris

Welcome to The Reading Room!

I am here to help elementary students who are struggling with reading, and who qualify for Tier 3, according to the Oklahoma Reading Sufficiency Act.

Reading success is tied closely to self-esteem.

My goal is to help raise both in your child.

At a loss for ideas on helping your child become a stronger student?

Try Reading Aloud with your child.  Reading aloud to a child of any age promotes healthy brain development.  Children who are read to more often have improved language and listening skills, experience stronger emotional connections to their loved ones, and gain a lifelong love of reading.  Even reading aloud to older students builds vocabulary, improves comprehension and listening skills.

Distance Learning Information

On Distance Learning Days, I will still be your child's Reading Coach, as stated on the APP that you signed earlier this year.  I will be working with my Tier 3 students through the Exact Path learning program.  Your child has already Pre-Tested for Exact Path.  With these pretests, Exact Path first works to understand a student's specific learning needs and then creates a pathway based on each learners' individual strengths and needs.  Exact Path provides skills that are in tune with these specific needs.  It will include all elements of a full lesson cycle -- instruction, practice, and assessment-- so that you can feel confident that your child continues to receive the appropriate instructional approaches that facilitate mastery learning, whether in the classroom or through Distance Learning.

During Distance Learning Days, I will be checking in on my students, on line, through Exact Path, to see how they are spending their time on this program, when they are struggling and need attention, or when they succeed and deserve a celebration. I'll be able to "push out" comments, instructions, and additional support practices, when needed.

The Classroom teachers sent the Exact Path info. as well as the log-in information, home with their students.   If you haven't received this yet, contact your child's teacher.  I should have all my students log-in info. soon, as well.
