District Federal Programs Director: Amy Moyer

Title I

The Lower and Upper Elementaries are Title I targeted schools.

Title I is a federal funded school program in both the upper and lower elementary schools which supports upgrading the instructional components of a school to enable all students to meet the state content and performance standards.  Support from parents is a critical component of a Title I school. Parent forums, parent-teacher conferences, and parent volunteers provide opportunities for gaining parental support. Funding is based off of the free/reduced lunch forms that are turned in every year.

Title I funding is used to provide eligible students tutoring services with the Title I teacher.

Mandatory set-aside funds are used to serve homeless children.  The McKinney-Vento definition of "homeless" is used when determining which students are eligible for services under the mandatory set-aside.

Parents of Title I students may view the Parents right to know, Title I parent involvement and Title I School Parent Compact.

  • increase student achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified principals and assistant principals in school; and
  • hold LEAs and schools accountable for improvements in student academic achievement.
